Hello
Ion!
Hello..
Your
contribution to the album was significant. How did your collaboration with
Mr.Tilley start?
I
first saw Roger playing the organ at the Catholic church very close to
my Athens studio.
As you know the organ is a non touch sensitive instrument so to put emotion
in your performance
it requires a great deal of personal skill. Roger has that!..He is an
amazing organist even if he's doing it only a couple of hours a week.
I asked him "what are you doing this summer?
Let's make an album..".He was reluctant at first...but not for long.
Was
it easy for him to cope with the new technology being a classical musician?
At one point he mentioned
that he simply "provided the notes". Is that true?
Did
he say that? Well he's been modest!
Roger came into the studio and in a couple of hours he was treating the
synthesizers as
if they were his own; changing waveforms, testing effects, trying out
equalizer settings!
He had a pretty clear idea about the sound he was after..
Did
you use computers during the recording?
Actually,
afterwards...for mastering! My dear friend Maria Panayotakis
provided me with all the software i needed.
Which
software/hardware equipment did you use in this album?
I'm
not going to reveal that...sorry!
How
about your future plans then?
Oh..that's
an easy one..i'd love to visit a Buddist monastery and stay there for
a while,
take Shirley Mac Laine out for dinner, have a chat with Jacques Polge (Chanel's
"nose")!!
Thank
you!
