" When Flora Zografou asked me to provide the music for Campion School's performance of Medea, I knew it was a chance to do something new. Ion agreed and so we set out to produce a suite of pieces which could support the play, yet stand alone as a separate musical performance. The ancient Greek tragedy automatically suggests a particular style of music. However Ion and I worked on using electronically produced sounds to create an historically appropriate atmosphere. I chose the betrayal of Medea's love as the focal theme, not omitting the inevitable intervention of the Gods. This intervention deifies Medea so as to justify her paedoctonic act. Such an extraordinary drama was a challenge well met by the Campion performance, from actors to technical crews, thereby justifying the effort to produce original music and giving great satisfaction to the audience. As with all my recordings, this effort is shared with Ion who has produced a professional result, both audibly and visually."
